Guest Post: Virgo New Moon with The Dancing Oracle

Today's guest blogger is a powerful witch and member of the Wilde Alchemy Modern Mystery School administration team - Carla White Crowe is known online as The Dancing Oracle. Today she has prepared some deep wisdom about the Virgo New Moon for you.

New Moon in Virgo (8/27/2022 @ 4:17am EST)

Once again we are at the start of a new lunar cycle with our New Moon at 4 degrees of Virgo. Virgo is a healer and nurturer - she’s our high priestess on this earthly plane. Virgo invites us to rededicate ourselves to that which we hold sacred and be devoted to our own temples - both within and without. She is a goddess who is whole unto herself.

Virgo is also deeply connected to the elements and easily attuned to the cycles and seasons of nature. This time of year encourages us to start thinking about what preparations need to be made before we begin our transition into the colder months ahead. What needs to be harvested or tended, too, so that we can take good care of ourselves moving forward.

New moons are excellent for contemplation and internal reflection. They offer us a glimpse into our subconscious, which can help us understand ourselves better… if we allow it. A New Moon represents the first phase of the lunar cycle, which gives us a clean slate. We have a chance to rethink what isn’t working and make a fresh start. This type of inward focused work comes naturally for Virgo, as reflected in her association with the hermit card in the tarot. The hermit knows that true knowledge is found within.

This lunation is coupled with an important transit. We have Mars in Gemini squaring both the sun and moon. Mars represents drive, action, and aggression - it’s how we assert ourselves. Gemini presides over our thoughts, communication and how we interact with others. The square aspect can create friction, challenges, and roadblocks in both of these areas.

When we think about Mars in Gemini squaring the Sun (representing our outer world), it means we’re more prone to encountering challenges with work, school, organizations that we are a part of, or any significant outer structures in our lives. Our egos could also be really sensitive right now. We may experience feelings of frustration, impatience, and impulsivity. It’s important to be mindful of the places where we feel triggered so that we can tread with caution in our interactions with others. Watch out for disagreements, confrontations, and miscommunications.

Mars in Gemini squaring the moon (representing our inner world), speaks to how we communicate to ourselves. Is your self-talk nourishing or is it holding you back? Are you showing up in this life as your truest and most authentic self? Where are you standing in your own way? You might find yourself confronted with aspects that you keep hidden from others. There could be things you’re longing to do or accomplish that you haven’t pursued due to fear or insecurity. Maybe you need to harness the passion and forward momentum of Mars to push past your own self-limitations.

Keep in mind that there’s a balancing act to be sorted out here. Mars may be pushing you out the door, saying “just do the damn thing” - but Virgo would want you to make a plan and commit to a few small attainable goals so that you don’t crash and burn.

Another transit to keep in mind right now is Venus in Leo squaring Uranus in Taurus. Uranus is the planet of change and revolution - it’s where we want to break free. And because Venus highlights relationships - we might find ourselves wanting to shake things up or try something new. So tread lightly, especially with newer relationships.

Venus is also opposing Saturn, adding even more tension in our relationships - especially when it comes to practical matters such as finances and contracts. We might be evaluating the pros and cons of love instead of romanticizing our feelings. This opposition is an opportunity to see more clearly and enact positive change that will bring harmony and balance to your relationships over time.

To get more specific about how this new moon is impacting you personally, find where 4 degrees of Virgo falls in your chart and look up information about what that particular house rules. For example, if 4 degrees of Virgo is within your 5th house then you might be focused on a new creative project, your self-expression, or a new romantic relationship. 5th house can also highlight your kiddos and what’s going on in their worlds.

My best advice on how to take advantage of this energy right now is to take a thorough inventory of your inner and outer worlds in order to figure out what’s working and what’s not. What self-limiting beliefs can you tackle in order to take up more space in this world? Are there any areas of your life that could benefit from more structure, more routines, and more balance? This is also a great time to connect with nature and soak up her grounding energy.

On a practical level, this is a prime time for cleaning and organizing your home. If you’re limited on time, just focus on the spaces you utilize most often. And lastly, make sure you’ve scheduled all of your annual medical appointments so you can stay on top of your health. But don’t be like my Virgo self and try to tackle all of this at once with precision and perfection LOL - baby steps friends!
